Self-acceptance can sometimes be challenging for people.
Accepting yourself, sounds simple right?
When you accept, love, and embrace who you are It does not matter what anyone else thinks. Check out these tips to accept yourself just as you are.
1. Seek Your Own Approval
Stop seeking external validation. Do you for you. Stop giving energy to the approval or opinions of people that don’t deserve such a high ranking. Meaning, well-meaning family members, distant friends, acquaintances, social media followers, or even a boss — do not define you! Define yourself and make yourself proud.
2. Be Yourself
Consistently be yourself. Be authentic. Pursue activities that you love and that interest you for yourself. Don’t follow the crowd or do something because someone else told you to. Be proud of your individuality.
3. Don’t Be So Hard On Yourself
Be patient with yourself. Know you are doing your best. Try and have a sense of humor about life and give yourself credit for your efforts.
4. Have Fun
It is not all struggle and grit, pushing, and working. Enjoy life! Enjoy the journey. Enjoy the process of living your authentic life.
5. Practice Self Care Weekly
Self-care is any activity that we do to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. This means taking care of yourself so that you are healthy both physically, and mentally. You want to be at your best so that you can work, interact with friends and family, and you can do all the things you need to and want to in a day. Self-care is fun. Yoga, writing, reading, hiking, exercise, soaking in a tub. Whatever nurtures your body and soul.
6. Your Opinion Counts
Your opinion matters. What you think matters. What you have to say or contribute is valuable, and valid.
7. Chase Your Dreams
Don’t limit your dreams or goals based on anyone else. Believe in what you’re capable of and go after what you want.
8. Check In With Yourself
Use self-awareness as you go about your day. Get in tune with your inner self. This can be tuning in to your feelings, physical sensations, your response to situations, your behavior, or your thoughts. Self-Awareness is getting locked into who you are, what you are about, your intuition, and more.
9. Be Accountable And Positive
If you make a mistake, own up to it and learn from the mistake. Admitting a fault shows strength. You are human, and everyone makes mistakes. It’s what you do after that counts.
10. Use Positive Self Talk
Positive self-talk can help you have a better outlook on life. It can also have lasting positive health benefits, including improved well-being and a better quality of life. However, self-talk is a habit that takes practice.
The power of self-acceptance is immense. The power that you need is already inside you. Accept yourself as you are and embrace an authentic life filled with pursuing what is important to you.
